Questions & answers
If your question isn’t here, just ask.
Visiting
Can I visit the farm?
Yes. Visits are by arrangement so the horses (and we) are ready for you. Send us a message through the Contact page, or come to one of our open farm days listed on the Events calendar.
Do I need any experience with horses?
None at all. Everyone starts somewhere, and we’ll show you how to be safe and comfortable around the horses.
What should I wear?
Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots. Dress in layers. Wisconsin weather changes quickly.
Programs
Who are your programs for?
Everyone is welcome. Our donations specifically help provide equine-assisted services to veterans, first responders and under-served populations, and we also welcome individuals, families, schools and community groups.
Do I have to ride?
No. Most of what we do happens on the ground: grooming, groundwork, obstacle courses, chores, gardening and more. Riding is available for those who are ready and want to.
Volunteering
How old do volunteers need to be?
Adults are welcome in every role. Younger volunteers are welcome with a parent or guardian’s permission; tell us about your family on the volunteer form.
How much time do I need to commit?
Whatever you can give reliably. Some volunteers come every week; others help at a few events a year.
Giving
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Hope Community Farm is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Can I donate supplies instead of money?
Absolutely. Hay, feed, garden tools, lumber and craft supplies all help. Contact us first so we can make sure it’s something we can use.
